In today’s post I tell you about the house we rented in Terceira through booking.com.
This accommodation seemed impeccable and new; moreover, the hostess was very responsive to all our questions, and we decided to proceed with the booking.
We accessed the accommodation with a password.
The owner had left us vegan options for breakfast and the house looked clean.
The first night I told them that the TV remote was not working and when we arrived from sightseeing the next day we had a new remote.
The second night the electricity went out and they came almost immediately to solve the problem. The house had a power limit and with many appliances on at the same time, the power went out and could only be restored by accessing the power panel outside the house.
The overall stay was good, but there were two things that in the end were very annoying and almost unbearable.
Firstly, there was a problem with the drain and the bathroom smelled like sewage all the time and at night it was worse. You had to keep the bathroom door always closed and the window open because the smell was vomitive.
Secondly, the refrigerator made a lot of noise and there was no way to stop it, so in the end we had to turn it off at times.
Here are the good and bad things about this property:
Pros
- Cleanliness.
- The house was relatively isolated and there was no traffic noise.
- It had a garage.
- The sofa was comfortable and seemed clean.
- The kitchen was spacious, and the cooktop was induction.
- The construction of the house was of good quality.
- Laundry area with washer and dryer. This is the first time in a vacation rental that the dryer works well.
- Spacious bathroom.
- Good water pressure.
- Enough towels for the whole stay.
- Enough shampoo, soap and dishwasher tablets.
- Internet worked well.
- They were able to resolve issues quickly.
Cons
- The television was small.
- The kitchen lacked basic things like a pasta strainer.
- The lighting in general was dim.
- The room smelled musty, so we had to keep the window open all day.
- The mattress was very soft, and the pillows were uncomfortable.
- There was a problem with the drains, so the bathroom stank like a sewer all day.
- The TV had Netflix, but you had to log in with your own account.
- The refrigerator was very noisy.
Although the house had several negative aspects, the overall stay was good because we were quiet, and the house was clean.
As I always tell you, even if there are shortcomings because a tourist accommodation is never going to be 100% to our liking, the important thing for me is that it is clean and not to have problems during my stay.
